KC108 - Santa Fe Bx-44 Postwar AAR Box Cars
In 1946 the Santa Fe received 500 box cars that followed the postwar iteration of the AAR box car design. They did possess one very distinguishing trait, however. They were equipped with an early version of the improved Youngstown steel door, with wide overlaps between the panels. The cars also were adorned with all five of the Santa Fe slogans of the day.
Speedwitch is offering conversion kits to replicate these cars. The kits include a Branchline undecorated postwar AAR box car kit, injection molded styrene doors, etched metal running boards, resin castings for the ends, side sills tabs, Royal brake regulator, and details, plus accurate decals.
Please note that the running boards assigned were as follows:
Car nos. 138700-138824 - Morton Open Grip; 138825-138949 - U.S. Gypsum; 138950-139199 - Apex Tri-Lok
Slogans were assigned as follows:
Car nos. 138700-138799 - Grand Canyon; 138800-138899 - Scout; 138900-138999 - El Capitan; 139000-139099 - Super Chief; 139100-139199 - Chief
