KC106 - Pittsburgh & West Virginia Postwar AAR Box Car

From late 1946 to early 1947, the Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railway received 100 postwar AAR box cars from AC&F with 8' door openings. The cars were placed in the 1200-1299 series. They used the “prewar” version of the Youngstown corrugated steel door. In addition they used unusual ladders that employed rungs that were inserted into holes in the stiles and held in place once the stiles were attached to the car. The cars had an inside height of 10'4", and the top rib of the ends was “abbreviated” to accommodate this.

Speedwitch is offering full conversion kits to replicate these cars. The kits are “kitbashes-in-a-box” that include parts to build a prototypically accurate model, including etched metal ladders, trust plates, and U.S. Gypsum running boards. Includes as-built lettering and "symbol of Service" lettering for repainted black cars.
