K116 - Norfolk & Western G-5 Gondolas
Beginning in 1953 and continuing into 1956, the Norfolk & Western Railway received five orders of gondolas from three different builders. These gons were placed in the class G-5 and all were for general service. The cars had twelve panels per side with eleven ribs. The inside length was 46' and the inside width was 9'6". The cars were delivered as follows: 89000-89320, built 1952 by American Bridge; 89321-89999, built 1953 by American Bridge; 88000-88420, built 1953 by N&W's Roanoke shops; 88421-88999, built 1954 by N&W's Roanoke shops; and 90000-90499, built 1956 by American Car & Foundry. This kit was formerly marketed by Pocahontas Models as their kit no. 115.
