K106 - CB&Q/FW&D/C&S XM-25/26 Single Sheathed Box Cars
The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy added 2,000 single sheathed box cars to their fleet as well as 500 each to subsidiaries Fort Worth & Denver and Colorado & Southern. These cars comprised one of the largest blocks of a single type of car on the road from the 1920s into the 1950s. While the CB&Q had many subtly different groups of single sheathed cars, this is one of the most prominent, and can be considered representative of “Q” box cars. These kits feature one-piece body castings, detail castings, decals, details parts, and wire. The modeler must add trucks and couplers.
