K102 – New Haven 17200 series 50' welded flat car

In 1937, the New York, New Haven & Hartford built 75 flat cars at the road’s Readville, Massachusetts shops. Bethlehem Steel furnished welded underframes to the New Haven for this group of cars. The cars were 50' over the striker faces, had 15 unevenly spaced stake pockets per side and were rated at 70 tons. They were the first general service flat cars added to the road’s fleet since the first decade of the century.

These HO scale kits will be offered in two versions: the general flat car and the TOFC version. The TOFC versions will follow in early 2007. The kits feature one-piece bodies with separate deck and details. Trucks and couplers are not included.
