D100 – Southern Railway AAR Box Cars with Aluminum Monogram

This set letters the Southern Railway's 1937 AAR box cars with the unusual and relatively unknown aluminum monograms. For a period of a few years, the Southern used aluminum pigment for the familiar monogram on its AAR box cars. This ended with the delivery of their first 10’6” IH AAR box cars in 1942. This is the first decal set to offer this eye-catching scheme. All of the stenciling was meticulously created from scratch using Southern stencil drawings and photos. This is one of the most accurate decal sets ever offered. The set contains enough material to letter one 1937 AAR (10’0” IH) box car with an aluminum monogram plus additional material to letter one Modified (10’6” IH) AAR box car with the white monogram. In future, we will also be offering the later white monogram should you wish to recreate one of the cars after repainting. In addition to the basic material to letter the car, there are also many stencils for reweigh, repack and brake service, lettering for all subsidiaries and builder’s stencils for Pullman-Standard and three varieties of Mt. Vernon.
